The Gemini Plus upgrade adds Google AI Plus to your own Gmail account through a Google family group invitation, giving you more access to Gemini’s advanced models, AI creation tools, and 200 GB of cloud storage. It’s the step up from the free tier for students and everyday users who want more from Gemini without paying for the full Pro plan.

Google AI Plus raises your limits in the Gemini app, including more use of Google’s Pro-level model and Deep Research for compiling sourced reports. It adds expanded access to Google’s AI image and video creation tools, higher limits in NotebookLM for research and study, and Gemini features inside Gmail, Docs, and other Google apps.

The plan’s 200 GB of storage is shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos, giving you more room for files, mail, and photos alongside the AI upgrade.

Important information

Payments profile must be closed: your Google payments profile must be closed before you join. This removes saved payment methods and ends any Google subscriptions billed through it, so consider using a fresh Gmail if you have active paid Google services.
No existing family group: your account cannot already belong to a Google family group. Leave any current group before accepting.
Stay in the group: leaving the family group after joining ends your Google AI Plus access. Plan features are listed on the official Google One plans page.
Non-refundable: once the invitation has been sent, the order cannot be refunded or exchanged.

How to prepare your Gmail

Open Gmail, click your profile picture, and select Manage your Google Account.
Go to Payments & subscriptions and click Manage payment methods.
Open Payments settings, scroll down, and select Close payments profile.
Reload the settings page to confirm the payments profile shows as closed.
Go to People & sharing and open Family group. If you’re already in a group, select Leave family group.
